4. Benefits from playing with other great jump shooters.

One thing that makes Golden State such a unique offense is that there are plenty of jump shooting scoring opportunities to go around. Not only does the Warriors’ frenetic pace allow for more offensive possessions, but the way Golden State passes the basketball yields more open looks than an isolation heavy offense.

Though Dallas does just fine on offense with Nowitzki as the primary three-point threat, he would join a terrific ensemble cast of jump shooters if he signs with Golden State. The transcendent stretch five will join the likes of the two best shooters from distance of their era in Stephen Curry and Thompson. Outside of Bogut, Shaun Livingston, Festus Ezeli, and Anderson Varejao, everybody on Golden State can rain threes with great confidence.

This will allow Nowitzki to get even better looks than he gets in Dallas strictly on his height advantage. Though he loves his patented one-footed fade away jumper, Nowitzki might be able to shoot at a higher clip from distance playing with other elite jump shooters.

Imagine substituting Nowitzki in Golden State’s Death Lineup over soon-to-be free agent Harrison Barnes. This would put Nowitzki at stretch five, Green at stretch four, and Iguodala at the three. It would allow Golden State to continue to stretch the floor with outrageous jump shooting without sacrificing size on the glass. The added muscle of Nowitzki to the Death Lineup might call for a new name: the Armageddon Lineup?
