The Cleveland Cavaliers are NBA champs, and J.R. Smith was the MVP of the afterparty.

For the first time in franchise history, the Cleveland Cavaliers are at the top of the NBA world. LeBron James’ prophecy as The Chosen One has been completed and he has accomplished what he set out to do when drafted in 2003 — win a title in Cleveland.

But while LeBron is The King, it’s his dukes that continue to bathe in the spotlight they’re under. Specifically, J.R. Smith is proving to be a prince and has given us moment after moment that we can’t help but love.

J.R. also took ‘bathing’ in the spotlight very literally, as thats exactly what he did to a bartender on the Cavs las Vegas detour back to Cleveland this morning.

As ESPN’s Arash Markazi passed along, J.R. Smith was the MVP of the Cavaliers afterparty proving once again that he’s the most interesting player on Cleveland’s roster.

There has to be a lot going through the mind of J.R. at the moment. He’s opting out of his contract with the Cavaliers to cash in on this success he’s had — but he’s sort of forgotten how poorly that worked out last time.

You could argue that J.R. was no more effective this postseason than he was last year and look how many offers he received following opting out then.

Of course, the iron is a lot hotter than it was last year so maybe this won’t end up being the last time J.R. pops some champagne this summer.
