A storm has halted play in the Copa America semifinal between Chile and Colombia.

Chile is 45 minutes away from their second straight Copa America final as title holders, but they will have to wait out a lengthy weather delay as a summer storm has halted things at Soldier Field. Extending halftime by at least 30 minutes due to unsafe weather conditions.

After Chile’s stunning start to the match put La Roja up 2-0 inside of 15 minutes, the skies have decided to open up. Forcing the fans to evacuate into the concourses at Soldier Field as officials wait to determine when play will resume.

Reports have surfaced that the second half kickoff will only be delayed for 30 minutes, but with the stadium completely evacuated a lengthy delay is certain before things can resume in the all-important second half of the Copa America semifinal.

This break could play into the hands of Colombia in their comeback hopes as another half hour to come up with the right tactics or motivation could be crucial in a match that looks finished with Chile up 2-0.

Argentina awaits the winner of this match after beating the Americans 4-0 on Tuesday, but if the weather holds up Messia and co. could be sitting for awhile before the second finalist in the Copa America final is officially determined.
