the New York Knicks have agreed to trade Robin Lopez and Jerian Grant to the Bulls for Derrick Rose.

The Derrick Rose era in Chicago is over.

After a few weeks of speculation, the Bulls and Knicks have finally pulled the trigger on a deal that will send Rose to New York for a package that should make fans in Chicago blush.

Here’s the details, in which the Bulls fleeced New York:

That’s huge for the Bulls, as it fills an immediate need that they had in losing Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol to free agency, while it also gives them a point guard of the future in Grant. There’s still a logjam in the front court with Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic trying to find minutes, but it’s alleviated a little and Chicago gets another good center with crazy hair in Lopez.

Rose in New York is almost too perfect. He’s already broken enough for them to sink too much money into his future and to have hi not be good enough to ever win. Literally minutes before this trade happened, I joked with Matt Verderame that the Knicks were going to create a core of Rose-Melo and Dwight Howard.

It looks like that might be about to happen.
