Can Houston Rockets star James Harden recruit his former teammate Kevin Durant to join him in Houston?

The Houston Rockets had a disappointing 2015-16 season after making the Western Conference Finals the season before, and now they are targeting Kevin Durant in free agency. With the relationship between James Harden and Dwight Howard not being great, it seemed to have an effect on the Rockets on the court, which led to a quick first round exit in the NBA Playoffs.

Now, Harden will be trying to recruit his good friend and former teammate with the Oklahoma City Thunder to leave Russell Westbrook and join forces with him in Houston. In an interview with Jerome Solomon of Chron.com, Harden makes it very clear that he is going to do what he can to bring Durant to Houston.

"“As hard as I can. I’m gonna try. He’s one of my really good friends. He has a big decision. (He’ll do) whatever he feels is best for his career. Obviously, I would love for him to play here in Houston, but ultimately he’ll make the best decision for his career.”"

In addition to playing with his friend, Durant does have ties to Texas after playing his college basketball there for the University of Texas. Joining forces with Harden in Houston would make a pretty dynamic 1-2 punch for two of the best scorers in the NBA, who made the NBA Finals together with Westbrook before Harden was shockingly traded.

With LeBron James almost certainly staying put in Cleveland, Durant will be the No.1 free agent target of almost every team in basketball. There are some very good teams that have expressed interest in Durant already, but Harden will be trying to reunite with his good friend.
