NBA Draft 2016: Timberwolves to draft buddy Hield No. 5 if Kris Dunn is gone
By Josh Hill
The Minnesota Timberwolves have zeroed in on Kris Dunn and Buddy Hield at No. 5 overall.
The NBA Draft has given us months of speculation but the hours leading up to the actual event have been filled with more goodies than we could have imagined.
From trades to speculation, the leader to the NBA Draft is usually filled with real information and smoke screens being set at the lat minute. The Minnesota Timberwolves are operating behind one — it’s a matter of which one.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Timberwolves are set on drafting Kris Dunn No. 5 overall with Buddy Hield being their fallback.
The Timberwolves are in an amazing position here picking between two of the best players in the draft. It has long been speculated that Minnesota would want to take Kentucky guard Jamal Murray to pair him with former Wildcats teammate Karl-Anthony Towns.
But while Murray is a solid prospect, Dunn seems like the player we will all be talking about out of this draft class and Hield is a really close second. With everyone being caught up in the Ben Simmons hype, it fells like Hield, Dunn, Murray and others have flown under the radar which could make two of the three falling to the Wolves at No. 5 that much sweeter.
This scenario is a dream for Minnesota. They either get a potential superstar point guard for the future in Dunn or an answer to their desperate need for three-point shooting in Hield.
Just be prepared to live in a world where we’re talking about a Minnesota sports team getting richer — it’s happening, America.
