With still two days until the knockout stages of the Euro Championship take place, these are the top five best teams after group play.

The 2016 Euro Championship has not disappointed thus far into the tournament. While some teams have not yet played to their full potential, others have stepped up and proven themselves to be real contenders in this tournament.

Those that were most hyped up –France, England, Spain and Germany– have played well enough to make it to the knockout stage, but they have yet to prove why they are some of the best teams in the world. They have shown spurts of dominance, like Spain versus the Czech Republic, beating them 3-0, but they fell off a lot with a 2-1 loss to the ever impressive Croatia.

On the other side, teams that have not had so much hype have impressed. Croatia has proven that they are more than just a dark horse in this tournament and Iceland has gone from Cristiano Ronaldo judging them for celebrating a tie, to celebrating their first ever knockout stage.

With many teams stepping up and others not playing to their potential, there are many teams that could’ve been put in the top five teams of the EURO Championship thus far, but these are the top five of the tournament and look the best going into the knockout stages that start on Saturday.
