The Boston Celtics shocked a lot of people in last night’s draft, taking Cal freshman Jaylen Brown, much to the dismay of fans

The Celtics went for the surprise factor with the No. 3 pick in last night’s 2015 NBA Draft when they selected standout freshman Jaylen Brown from the University of California. This, however, did not sit well with Celtics fans at Barclays Arena or anywhere else. Brown is a freak athlete who struggled to shoot the ball last year and was just as surprised as everyone to be selected as high as No. 3.

The Celtics are a young team (fifth-youngest, average age 24.5) and Brown has a very high ceiling for potential. Potential doesn’t mean a thing unless it’s worked for and Brown proved in his lone year at Cal how determined and driven he is.

Co-Owner of the Boston Celtics, Wycliffe “Wyc” Grousbeck was extremely pleased with Brown’s maturity as a 19-year-old. The Celtics were making headlines leading up to the draft as they were shopping the No. 3 pick but according to general manager Danny Ainge, the Celtics “weren’t even close” to making a deal with teams. Brown will fit the need at the wing position that the Celtics desperately need and could contribute right away depending on how his offseason workouts go.

Here are five reasons he could make Boston fans very happy next season.
