Ben Simmons told LeBron James he could not wait to face him after being named the first overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday night. LeBron’s response was priceless.

Ben Simmons was taken by the Philadelphia 76ers with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday night, and is considered by many to be one of the best young prospects in recent history.

Simmons appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show” Friday, and was asked when was the last time he spoke with former top pick LeBron James, who recently won an NBA Championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

According to Simmons, the pair FaceTimed after the draft, with the youngster telling James he could not wait to face him on the court. In typical LeBron fashion, he took the opportunity for a mic-drop moment.

“He just flipped the camera [around] and it was the championship trophy,” Simmons said. “So I couldn’t say anything back.”

Here is the interview below:

Being the top overall selection in the NBA Draft will come with enough pressure, and it is never good to poke a bear. James is already an NBA legend, winning three championships, so Simmons may want to choose his battles wisely.

Obviously the exchange was all in good fun, and Simmons can learn a lot about the kind of pressure he will be going through from James. Both players are incredibly talented, and it will be interesting to see them match up when the Cavs play the 76ers this season.
