Miami Heat – The successful path

Look no further than LeBron James for evidence that this destination can work.

James stunned the NBA world by selecting Miami over New York and, more importantly, his hometown team in the Cleveland Cavaliers. While “King James” did create an incredible amount of negativity with his choice, the on-court results speak for themselves. The Heat went on to reach the NBA Finals in four consecutive seasons, winning two NBA championships, and James was able to add to his already considerable legacy.

This time around, it is Kevin Durant weighing his options and Miami is among them. The Heat aren’t as much of a slam dunk in Durant’s case, largely due to uncertainty surrounding Chris Bosh and the aging process for both Bosh and Dwyane Wade. At the same time, Pat Riley is a proven team builder that has assets on board already, and Durant’s arrival would place Miami firmly in the mix as a legitimate title contender in year one.

It should also be noted that South Beach is an attractive destination for any NBA player, and even if that is not the deciding factor, it is definitely a notch in the corner of the Miami Heat.
