Kevin Durant has two teams in serious contention to pry him away from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Here are five reasons that team could be the Miami Heat.

On Sunday, one of Kevin Durant’s representatives at Roc Nation spoke on the condition on anonymity about just where his client’s head is at entering 2016 NBA free agency. The Roc Nation representative stated that besides Durant staying put with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the two teams that are most likely to pry Durant away from the Thunder are the Golden State Warriors and the Miami Heat.

While Golden State is in the midst of playing its best basketball in 40 years with their current collection of talent, Miami has been one on the best run basketball operations in the last decade, winning three NBA Championships and going to five in the last 11 NBA seasons.

From being an expansion era team in the late 1980s and the early 1990s, the Heat in the 2000s have emerged as one of the winningest basketball franchises of all time. Their three NBA Championships before the franchise’s 30th birthday is very impressive.

Though the Heat at first seemed like a dark horse contender to land the highly coveted Durant in 2016 NBA free agency, it seems now that the Heat are a finalist in the Durant sweepstakes. Here are five reasons it makes sense for Durant to sign with the Heat in July.
