The San Antonio Spurs are one of the six teams Kevin Durant will meet with in 2016 NBA free agency. Here are five reasons he could sign with the Spurs.

The Kevin Durant 2016 NBA free agency sweepstakes will begin on July 1st when the Oklahoma City All-NBA small forward and former league MVP will take meetings in Los Angeles with prospective teams on where he might sign next season.

Through representatives at his agency Roc Nation, Durant has said that he will take meetings with six teams in Los Angeles, where he makes his offseason home. Besides his current employer in the Thunder, one of the teams very much in the mix to land Durant this summer is perennial Western Conference power San Antonio Spurs.

While San Antonio is a small market team like the Thunder, both basketball cities have a unique culture of winning and taking care of their star players. Though Durant may have loved playing in Oklahoma City, perhaps traveling south to play in a new town on a different team in San Antonio might be the bit of fresh air he’ll need to finally win an NBA Championship.

As one of the clear finalists in the Durant 2016 NBA free agency sweepstakes, here are five reasons that Durant could leave the Thunder to sign a multi-year deal and play in San Antonio for the Spurs.
