Visitors arriving in Rio on Monday were met with a strong, harrowing message from local protesters at the airport

There has been plenty of controversy heading into the 2016 Rio Olympics about a number of things. There have been issues with the Zika virus and concerns about that in addition to worries about whether or not every bit of necessary construction needed to host the games will be completed in time. Locals in Rio are warning about potentially an even bigger problem—that law enforcement might not be there to do their job.

Protesting law enforcement officials warned incoming tourists and visitors to Rio of such things on Monday as those arriving at the airport saw a sign saying “Welcome to Hell” and then saying that police officers and firefighters weren’t being paid right now:

As reported by Eric Adelson of Yahoo! Sports, things are getting out of hand in Rio right now in regards to their government. The reports out of the host city describe things as a meltdown right now and these warnings at the airport bring to light legitimate concerns about what could happen in Rio right now.

These law enforcement officials protesting are reportedly not receiving wages on time and are being treated quite poorly. As such, they won’t be there to their jobs now or once the city is flooded with tourists for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Though things could hopefully get better sometime soon, they’ll need to drastically improve from the way things look right now in Rio.
