Free agency in the NBA is just a couple of days away and the Brooklyn Nets have an interesting path ahead of them under new general manager Sean Marks. The Nets are in the midst of a rebuilding process, but they also have pieces on the team that can be moved.

They also have money to spend in free agency. However, there is one move that the Nets can make immediately to clear up some cap space. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets are looking to trade point guard Jarrett Jack ahead of the buyout deadline on Thursday. If they don’t move him, they will waive him and get $6 million of cap space.

With the booming salary cap spike, teams might be more interested in seeing what they can get for a player on the free agent market first. However, those players are going to command a lot more money and a team in need of backup might consider Jack a cheaper option.

If any team has concerns about the status of his knee, after he tore his ACL in January, Wojnarowski points out that he is expected to be ready for training camp this year.

It’s unclear just who the Nets will target with their extra cap space, but an extra $6 million will provide a lot more room for someone that their new general manager can add to the roster as a building piece.
