Taking a look at when the 2016-17 NBA season will start and kick back into gear

It still feels like only yesterday that the 2015-16 NBA season was concluding with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers ending the city’s tormented sports history and a 52-year title drought by knocking off a historic juggernaut in the Golden State Warriors. No matter how short of a time ago that was, though, it’s time to look ahead to the 2016-17 NBA season now.

There are going to be storylines galore to follow heading into the 2016-17 NBA season, all of them seemingly more interesting than the next. Obviously you have Cleveland trying to defend the city’s first championship in 52 years, which is incredibly fascinating alone. But then you also have the team they defeated in the Warriors coming off of a 73-win regular season trying to prove that the 73 wins and the 2015 title weren’t flukes.

Moreover, we could be watching Kevin Durant, Mike Conley, Al Horford, Dwight Howard, and many other big names suit up for other teams and that’ll be something to watch. Similarly, the 2016-17 NBA season will also give fans a look at the immediate after effects of the salary cap jumping up and free agency being more frenetic than ever.

Considering all that’s going on, fans most likely can’t wait for the new NBA year to get underway and must be wondering when the 2016-17 NBA season will begin.

While the preseason will begin on Oct. 4, 2016, the regular season will tip-off on Oct. 25, 2016. With all that could be set to happen, we can’t wait for that date.
