Chicago Bulls: Convince Mike Conley

The Bulls moved away from Derrick Rose with only one year left on his massive contract and, in the process, Chicago added a capable big man in Robin Lopez. While that move certainly does not move the needle when it comes to the balance of power in the Eastern Conference, it does open up a crater for the franchise at point guard. Coincidentally, one of the best free agents on the market is, in fact, a point guard.

Would adding Mike Conley to the current Chicago Bulls roster with no additional changes be enough to unseat the Warriors? Absolutely not. However, Conley is one of the eight to ten best point guards in the NBA today, and pairing him with Jimmy Butler in the short term would help Chicago zoom to the top of the Eastern Conference alongside the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Furthermore, the Bulls would then be an interesting destination for other free agents, and the appeal of a major market could help to lure more talent. Chicago’s long-term assets are less than stellar with the exception of Butler, but this is a franchise that wants to compete right now, and their best path to doing that (within reason) would be to add Conley to the mix.
