5. D.J. Augustin (PG)

When Rose was sidelined for the 2013-2014 season, Augustin sashayed in and filled the void easily by providing valuable points off the bench.

Currently, the Knicks are woefully lacking any sort of back-up talent at the point guard position, so recruiting a guard who can contribute as both a scorer and a serviceable playmaker would be a strong back-up plan in case anything were to hinder Rose’s overall production while wearing a Knicks jersey.

Also, since Jackson decided to set aside his Triangle-focused game plan for the team going forward (for now), Augustin should easily find his purpose in a more dynamic, speedy Jeff Hornacek offense.

His ability to shoot, drive, and kick can fluster any opposing defense – obviously not to the same effect of a more athletic floor captain like Russell Westbrook or an out-of-this-world sharpshooter like Stephen Curry, but it would be enough to provide a necessary shot to the arm to any NBA second unit.
