NBA Free Agency: 5 best fits for Joakim Noah
5. Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks have qualified for the NBA Playoffs each of the last nine years, but entering the 2016-17 season, the Hawks are undergoing a period of significant change. Along with trading away Jeff Teague prior to the draft, the Hawks are also likely to lose unrestricted free agent forward Al Horford.
And after losing DeMarre Carroll last summer, the Hawks will potentially be without three starters from their 60-win team from two seasons ago and now must rebuild if they are to push their impressive playoff streak to double-digits.
With only $52.4 million dedicated to contracts next season and the team in need of two starters, expect the Hawks to be heavy players in free agency this summer. Reserves Tiago Splitter and Walter Tavares are currently the only two centers on the roster, meaning Atlanta will certainly be in the market for a big man.
With forward Paul Millsap serving as the go-to scoring option in the paint, the Hawks will most likely target a defensive-minded player and after the highly-coveted Hassan Whiteside, Joakim Noah is the next best option.
Without an established play-maker at the point guard position, Noah’s tremendous passing ability as a frontcourt player could be a much-needed addition for the Hawks.
