The Sacramento Kings are yet another team in 2016 NBA free agency interested in trying to sign wing Courtney Lee

When it comes to the NBA offseason, the Sacramento Kings are more of a punch line than anything else. You can always count on the Kings to make a strange decision in the NBA Draft and then follow that up with even more outlandish signings in NBA free agency. Though their draft was certainly lackluster and laughable, the Kings may actually be trying to make a smart move to start out 2016 NBA free agency.

According to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders, the Kings are another team that is trying to pursue veteran wing Courtney Lee in free agency, characterizing Sacramento as having “serious interest:”

As stated by Kennedy, the Kings join the New York Knicks in being in heavy pursuit of Lee. However, with reports that the Knicks have moved Eric Gordon to the top of their list in regards to free agent targets on the perimeter, that could open up the door for Sacramento to swoop in and potentially make a high quality signing.

Courtney Lee is the type of veteran player that has made a positive impact at virtually every stop that he’s made throughout his career. He can contribute at a high level on both ends of the floor, but he’s particularly a player that could step in and really help the Kings’ perimeter defense take a step forward.

It may come as a shock, but the Kings are looking like they could make a smart signing to kick off their run in NBA free agency.
