2016 NBA Playoffs darling center Bismack Biyombo, formerly of the Toronto Raptors, has agreed to a four-year deal to play with the Orlando Magic.

Nobody did more for his value in free agency in the 2016 Eastern Conference Playoffs than did former Toronto Raptors center Bismack Biyombo. According to Jon Krawczynski of the Associated Press, “The Orlando Magic have agreed to terms on a four-year deal with Bismack Biyombo.”

Biyombo was absolutely going to command a huge pay day in 2016 NBA free agency after starring for the Raptors in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. When starting Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas went down with an ankle injury in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Miami Heat, Biyombo emerged as the Toronto x-factor, helping the Raptors get to their first Eastern Conference Finals in franchise history.

While it seems that new Magic head coach Frank Vogel wants to establish a great defensive front court like he had while coaching the Indiana Pacers with Serge Ibaka now at the four and Biyombo at the five, Orlando wasn’t a team that many had Biyombo going to.

Besides landing Ibaka in the Victor Oladipo trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Magic already have two other strong offensive-minded big men in center Nikola Vucevic and ultra-athletic power forward Aaron Gordon.

Though Orlando now has a front court that can stack up against anybody’s in terms of depth, there is a potential front court log jam coming in the first year of the Vogel era with the Magic if general manager Rob Hennigan doesn’t make a trade to unclog the lane.

Perhaps another trade is coming for the Magic in the coming days? One more move might be enough for the Magic to push for playoff contention in 2017 under Vogel’s guidance.
