3. Chicago Bulls

Yes, the Bulls just agreed in principle to a two-year deal with Rajon Rondo. That was likely under the impression that somebody like Russell Westbrook was not going to be made available. It would require a weird set of circumstances — the Bulls would have to offer the Thunder a huge package before July 7, when teams can officially sign players. But if they do it, they could back out of their Rondo signing.

It sounds like the Bulls are at least willing to listen to trade offers for Jimmy Butler. Should the Bulls include Butler in a trade for Westbrook, that gives the Thunder somebody who they can build a team around. Butler would be a more proven option than, say, Kris Dunn. The Bulls would still have Denzel Valentine, who should be ready to be an immediate starter after spending four years with Michigan State.

The Bulls have quite a few future draft picks available. They should be willing to trade most of them for Russell Westbrook, especially if they can get him to sign an extension. Trading for Westbrook would be a risky move by the Bulls. But it might be the only thing that keeps the franchise from drifting into obscurity for a while.
