MLB DFS: Stud and Steal of the Day July 5

facebooktwitterreddit

Looking at tonight’s slate of fourteen baseball games, it can be daunting to decide who deserves a place in your lineup. Knowing which star player is worth the money can be the difference between a winning night and one that ends in failure. However, finding the hidden gems that perform well are equally as important because they can let you spend more on your starting pitchers. This article will touch on one expensive player who is primed to have a big night, and one cheap player whom you wouldn’t normally play but is a great play tonight in MLB DFS.

Past Plays:

6/27:Mike Trout:3/4, 1 HR, 2B, 2R’s 1 RBI

6/28:Josh Donaldson:2/5,  3B,BB,3 RBI’s,1R

6/28:Giancarlo Stanton:3/5,  1 HR, 2 1B, 3 RBI’s, 1 R

7/4: Kris Bryant: 1/1, 2 BB’s, 1 HR, 2 RBI’s

MLB DFS: The Stud of the Day: Francisco Lindor, SS, ($4,700 DK, $3,200 FD)

While I would normally suggest saving money on the middle infield positions so you can spend up on outfielders, Francisco Lindor is in a great matchup and is worth paying up for. Facing off against the Tigers tonight in Cleveland, Lindor and the rest of the tribe will have the pleasure of facing off against Anibal Sanchez who has struggled mightily this season getting people out. On top of Sanchez’s struggles, Lindor has been hitting the cover off of the ball versus right handed pitching which further solidifies his elite play status for tonight.

Lindor vs. RHP at Home: 89 AB’s  .360 AVG,    7 2B’s ,    1 3B,   4 HR’s

Not only is he a threat at the plate, Lindor also gives you a chance to get points when he’s running the bases with his 13 steals. Considering that the 5 points you get from a stolen base equals the 5 points you get for hitting a double, Lindor is truly an elite DFS asset.

The Batter vs. Pitcher Stats: 2/6, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 4 Runs

Good success in an albeit limited sample size but the advanced stats also line up nicely for Lindor, get him in your lineups tonight!

MLB DFS: The Steal of the Day: Mike Napoli, 1B ($3,600 DK, $3,100 FD)

You don’t have to travel far to find our steal of the day, fellow Indians player Mike Napoli who is in the midst of a career year. Napoli has hit 17 HR’s already and is thriving, particularly when he plays at home vs right handed pitching.

More from FanSided

Napoli at Home vs RHP:  34 GP,  .290 avg,  10 HR, 31 rbi’s

As you can see, Napoli is putting up all star like numbers when the situation is right, and fortunately for dfs players tonight is one of those situations. Righty Anibal Sanchez has particulary struggled with right handed hitters on the road this season.

Sanchez on the Road vs. RHB: 96 batters faced, .326 avg, 6 2B’s, 6 HR’s

This pick again has a lot to do with Anibal Sanchez’s tendency to give up home runs, (Especially vs. Righties,) and Napoli has performed well against Sanchez in his career.

Batter vs. Pitcher Stats: 3/10, 1 HR, 3 R’s, 2 RBI’s – A solid performance in a limited sample size which is backed up by the data above.

An Indians stack makes for a great play today and even if you don’t choose to fully commit to them I would highly advise you to get Lindor and Napoli in your lineups! Best of luck to everyone playing DFS tonight and remember to check the starting lineups before they lock.
