Looking at tonight’s slate of fourteen baseball games, it can be daunting to decide who deserves a place in your MLB DFS lineup. Knowing which star player is worth the money can be the difference between a winning night and one that ends in failure. However, finding the hidden gems that perform well are equally as important because they can let you spend more on your starting pitchers. This article will touch on one expensive player who is primed to have a big night, and one cheap player whom you wouldn’t normally play but is a great play tonight.

Past Plays:

6/27:Mike Trout:3/4, 1 HR, 2B, 2R’s 1 RBI

6/28:Josh Donaldson:2/5,  3B,BB,3 RBI’s,1R

6/28:Giancarlo Stanton:3/5,  1 HR, 2 1B, 3 RBI’s, 1 R

7/4: Kris Bryant: 1/1, 2 BB’s, 1 HR, 2 RBI’s

MLB DFS: The Stud of the Day: Buster Posey, C ($4,200 DK, $3,200 FD)

The face of the San Francisco Giants gets our spot as stud of the day, none other than Buster Posey. While normally I prefer saving money on the catcher position, (as you can normally find a solid option for a low price,) Posey is in too good of a matchup to fade. He gets to face off against southpaw Jorge De La Rosa at home which is ideal as Posey kills left-handed pitching. Factor in that De La Rosa has struggled mightily vs. right-handed batters on the road and this is a dream spot to use arguably the best catcher in the entire league.

Posey vs. LHP at Home: 40 AB’s- .300 AVG,  3 Hr’s, 3 2b’s, 9 Rbi’s

Posey should be in line for a big game tonight, especially if he gets some help from the rest of the Giants. This is because he’s hitting .336 with men on base which is insanely high, if some of the batters in front of him can find a way to get on, you can count on Posey to get them home.

Right handed hitters should be able to do just that today, which you can see by looking at De La Rosa’s numbers vs right-handed bats.

De La Rosa vs. RHB on the Road: .380 AVG,   3 Hr’s,  7 2b’s,  16 runs accounted for

Jorge De La Rosa. cannot. get. right. handed. batters. on. the . road. out!

Get Posey in your lineups and consider some of the other right-handed batters for the Giants tonight!

MLB DFS: The Steal of the Day: Devon Travis, 2B ($3,700 DK, $2,700 FD)

The Blue Jays offense is always a popular play and tonight should be no exception. If you can’t afford to play Josh Donaldson or Edwin Encarnacion but still want a piece of it, you can roster Devon Travis for a great price. Travis is a very solid hitter versus righties, (.301 avg) and going up against Ian Kennedy should be a great spot for him to perform. Kennedy gives up a ton of hard hit balls to right-handed hitters, (%36.7) which should result in him getting shelled by the very potent (and righty dominated) Blue Jays lineup.

Travis vs RHP : .301 AVG, 5 Hr’s, 18 RBI’s

Anytime you can find a player for less than $4K on draftkings and less than $3k on fanduel with this type of split, you should get them in your lineups. What you have to remember is that normally the price is a representation of what the hitter does against lefties and righties. Travis for example only hits .200 against southpaws and hasn’t hit an HR yet against them. So while he becomes a bad play if a lefty is on the mound, he’s an absolute steal against right-handed pitching.

Make sure to get Travis into your lineups and if you can spend up I would recommend the big bats on Toronto!
