MLB All-Star Game 2016: 5 most likely MVP candidates
4. Manny Machado
The 23-year-old Manny Machado has always been an incredibly talented player, but he is breaking out in a big way this season. Machado is hitting an incredible .325/.380/.584 on the season while also playing stellar defense at shortstop and third base.
The Baltimore Orioles’ star is becoming one of the premier players in all of baseball and could easily be considered the American League MVP at the half-way point.
Machado was voted by the fans to be the American League starting third baseman and is set to become on of the most dangerous players in their line-up. If the American League cruises to another MLB All-Star Game victory, Machado likely made an impact in one way or another.
He is such a complete baseball player who makes an impact on the game at the plate, in the field and on the basepaths. His 4.0 WAR (Wins Above Replacement) is the fifth-highest of any player in all of baseball, according to FanGraphs, proving his overall value on the field.
Machado is clearly one of the premier players in baseball, and I could see him coming in and proving it on the big stage in the MLB All-Star Game next Tuesday. His elite-level ability on the field always shines through in a big way.
