Doug McDermott willing to give up number to Dwyane Wade (Photo)

Doug McDermott is more than happy to give up his jersey number to potential new Chicago Bulls guard Dwyane Wade.
When an athlete changes teams, sometimes they have to change numbers. Certain athletes are an exception. Should Dwyane Wade sign with the Chicago Bulls, he won’t have any issue getting his number three that he wore with the Miami Heat. Doug McDermott currently wears number three for the Bulls but he knows his place.
That’s a huge sign of respect from McDermott to Wade. Numbers mean quite a bit to athletes. Some athletes in McDermott’s situation might at least try to get something out of it. A new Rolex perhaps? Maybe a new car or even some new Beats By Dre headphones.
McDermott wants nothing of that. That should help Wade’s transition from the Heat locker room to the Bulls locker room and it potentially gets rid of what could have been a very awkward situation between McDermott and Wade.
It remains to be seen which number McDermott would switch to if Wade does indeed sign with the Bulls. McDermott and Wade on the same team could be quite fun to watch. Wade is still one of the league’s better guards and McDermott shot over 40 percent from three point range last season. He should thrive under new head coach Fred Hoiberg.
