Identifying the top high salary and value catcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 7 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Cameron Rupp, Phillies (4,300): The 27-year-old Rupp has carved out a regular role with Philadelphia this season, and he’s making the most of it. Rupp’s .283 average ranks third on the team. He’s hit double digits in DK points in six of his last 10 games and has a great chance to do so again Thursday at Coors Field.
Nick Hundley, Rockies (3,900): Like his counterpart Rupp, Hundley benefits from what’s expected to be a high-scoring game (and series) in Coors Field. Hundley faces Phillies left-hander Adam Morgan (1-6, 6.31 ERA) on Thursday, a matchup that should bode well for the veteran catcher, given his .282 average against southpaws.
High Value
Tyler Flowers, Braves (3,100): Flowers is very much a hit-or-miss DFS option, making him ideal for GPP lineups. He’s gone hitless in his last two games, but had consecutive games of 19 DK points in the two outings before that. He’s hitting .281 against righties this season, and he’s homered off of Chicago Cubs righty Jason Hammel (7-5, 3.45 ERA) previously in his career. He’s worth a long look.
Salvador Perez, Royals (2,900): Perez is in a terrible funk at the plate, having gone hitless in his last six games. That’s just not good. Still, Perez is too talented for this cold streak to last forever. If you’re playing him Thursday at home against Seattle, you’re betting he can do some damage against lefty James Paxton (2-3, 4.24 ERA). For a sub-3,000 price, that’s a reasonable risk to take.
