Identifying the top high salary and value pitcher plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 7 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Drew Pomeranz, Padres (11,700): It’s a weak pitcher selection on Thursday’s short slate, but Pomeranz stands out as the best option. The game between the Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers is projected to be the lowest-scoring game on Thursday, so that’s a strong starting point. Consider also that Pomeranz has topped 20 DK points in his last three starts. He’s the option on an otherwise uninspiring slate.

Trevor Bauer, Indians (9,900): The 25-year-old Bauer has finally started to put things together and become a consistently solid pitcher. He enters play Thursday against the New York Yankees with a 7-2 record and 3.02 ERA. Bauer’s strikeouts, however, have a tendency to fluctuate greatly from start to start, so he’s a bit of a wild card. But there is upside against a struggling Yankees team.

High Value

Jason Hammel, Cubs (7,400): Hammel was absolutely blasted in his last start, allowing 10 earned runs on nine hits over just four innings against the New York Mets (-11.60 DK points). There’s no way he can struggle like that against the last-place Atlanta Braves on Thursday … right? The Cubs are heavily favored against the Braves, so Hammel is a good bet to earn a win. He’s a viable option on a short slate.

Doug Fister, Astros (6,600): Fister, like Hammel, struggled in his last start (4.2 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, -1.90 DK points), but is a strong candidate to bounce back Thursday against the struggling Oakland Athletics. During June, Fister put together a stretch of four consecutive starts with at least 19 DK points, including one against Oakland. For a sub-7,000 price tag, he’s worth a roll of the dice.
