Identifying the top high salary and value third baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 7 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays (5,500): Donaldson had a rare hitless outing on Wednesday, but he’s in a solid spot to bounce back on Thursday. The reigning American League Most Valuable Player has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games overall, and now draws a home matchup with Justin Verlander (8-6, 4.11 ERA). Donaldson is hitting .331 at home this season, but more importantly, he’s 5-for-13 in his career against Verlander.

Nolan Arenado, Rockies (5,400): Arenado at home against a struggling left-hander? Sign us up now. Seriously, Arenado is an easy play on Thursday’s short slate, so he’s sure to be popular. But sometimes the obvious play is the right play. He’s hitting .309 at Coors Field this season and .293 against lefties. Start Arenado with confidence against Adam Morgan (1-6, 6.31 ERA).

High Value

Nick Castellanos, Tigers (3,600): Castellanos often gets overshadowed by Detroit’s veterans (Miguel Cabrera, Ian Kinsler, Victor Martinez), but he really shouldn’t. The 24-year-old third baseman is the team’s best young position player and he’s enjoying a true breakout season. He’s homered in consecutive games and is hitting .336 against righties this season. That’s good news for his matchup Thursday with Toronto right-hander Drew Hutchison (1-0, 5.40 ERA).

Yangervis Solarte, Padres (3,300): Solarte absolutely destroyed Arizona’s pitching staff on Wednesday, going 3-for-5 with a double, home run and five RBIs (32 DK points). He’s hitting an impressive .375 against lefties this season, so he’s an interesting play Thursday against Los Angeles Dodgers southpaw Hyun-Jin Ryu. Ryu is making his first start since 2014, so he might be a bit rusty. Solarte is worth a look at this discounted price.
