With just under two months until the start of the college football season, one power school in recent years is finding itself with a tiny problem when it comes to the quarterback position. The Baylor Bears, who have been dealing with an exodus of recruits following the firing of head coach Art Briles amid a scandal involving the handling of sexual misconduct cases, are now down their quarterback of the future.
Thursday, rising sophomore Jarrett Stidham announced his intention to transfer from the program after just one season. The former Texas Tech commit came into the starting job for three games last season after an injury to Seth Russell, before dealing with a season-ending injury of his own.
For Stidham, the choice will be whether or not to go to a FBS school – where he would have to sit out one season – or head down to the FCS level and play immediately. For the sake of argument, we’ll assume he stays at the top level and goes to a program that will be looking for quarterback help after the 2016 season.
