The Cleveland Cavaliers could be a landing spot for veteran big man Chris Anderson.

The Cleveland Cavaliers could be a potential suitor for Chris Anderson according to Ethan Skolnick of the Miami Herald. Chris “Birdman” Anderson spent parts of last season both in Miami and Memphis.

Anderson only played in 27 games combined with both the Heat and Grizzlies last season. The soon to be 38 year old did start 14 games in Memphis due to injuries, but still only put up averages of about 5 points a game and 5 rebounds to go with a underwhelming 0.5 blocks per contest.

Birdman has not played more than 20 minutes per game since the 2009-2010 season. So at most, Anderson will only provide emergency depth behind the likes of Kevin Love, Tristian Thompson and Channing Frye.

Chris Anderson is a former teammate of LeBron in Miami, having played with him for the better part of two seasons. So Anderson’s relationship with LeBron is definitely a driving point behind the mutual interest between him and Cavs.

Anderson did play a complimentary role in helping Miami win the championship in 2013, though at this stage in his career, his veteran leadership serves as his best attribute. It’s not like Kevin Love, Tristian Thompson and Channing Frye should be worried about minutes if Anderson does in fact sign.

The Cavaliers are high on Anderson’s list because he realizes that his ticket to the NBA Finals can pretty much be punched with LeBron already going to six straight in the Eastern Conference. So that second ring, which Birdman is essentially chasing, is surely achievable but then again there’s that newly formed super team out West.
