With the Golden State Warriors needing several players to sign at a veteran minimum to complete their roster, is Larry Sanders on his way to the Bay Area?

The Golden State Warriors were able to land top free agent Kevin Durant in 2016 NBA free agency, but will have to find the right mix of veterans willing to play on a minimum salary in 2016-17. The price of getting Durant ultimately cost Golden State Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli, Marreese Speights, and Brandon Rush.

With the Warriors in dire need of rim protection after the Durant signing, who will general manager Bob Myers look to fill that void? Could it be former Milwaukee Bucks center Larry Sanders?

On Saturday, the former elite rim protector for the Bucks tweeted out a screenshot of the 1979 movie ‘The Warriors’, possibly hinting that he is about to sign a deal with Golden State after spending a year out of the NBA.

Sanders played his first five NBA seasons with the Bucks after starring at Virginia Commonwealth University in college. He once finished seventh in NBA Defensive Player of the Year for the 2012-13 Bucks.

However, Sanders had some personal problems that derailed his promising NBA career. He violated the NBA’s Anti-Drug Policy in 2015 and was later bought out of his contract by the Bucks in 2015 to become an unrestricted free agent.

Now that he seems to want to get back into the NBA, joining the Warriors wouldn’t be a bad fit for Sanders. He’ll get ample opportunities to play, as Golden State couldn’t have worse rim protectors than they do now. Rookie Damian Jones could be good one day, but neither free agency signing of David West or Zaza Pachulia are going to do much of anything to help Golden State block shots. Perhaps Sanders is on his way to Golden State?
