DraftKings Late MLB Picks For July 10

There are only three games in the last tournament before the All Star Break. We have to choose wisely to separate ourselves from the rest of the pack. Let’s take a look at the past stats to see if we can find a few players that may not be widely owned.

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Zach Eflin has never faced the Rockies, and you probably don’t want to use a guy with a 4.30 ERA in his first career start at Coors Field.

Best Bets:

Madison Bumgarner ($13,000): Bumgarner is by far the most expensive pitcher on the short slate, and he just might be worth it. The Diamondbacks are hitting .250 against him in 216 at bats, but they only have 16 runs, which is a relatively low total. They have also struck out 53 times. The strikeout potential is enough to warrant this price tag, but he will likely give up some runs. Then again, he has a 2.09 ERA on the season, so bet against him at your own risk.

Kenta Maeda ($9,100): The Padres are only hitting .216 against Maeda in their two games against him this year, and he allowed only one extra base hit. However, he gave up four runs and only struck out seven.

Honorable Mention:

Archie Bradley ($7,400): Yes, Bradley owns a 4.81 ERA this season, and a 5.19 career mark, but it is not the fault of the Giants. The Giants are only hitting .207 against him in 29 at bats with only one extra base hit (a Angel Pagan double), two runs, and five strikeouts. He is a sneaky play, but it limits the upside if you use both him and MadBum.

Dark Horse:

Tyler Chatwood ($6,300): The Phillies have only faced Tyler Chatwood 14 times, but they have only three hits. The downside? They also have only three strikeouts, and this game is at Coors Field. You know, the place where Chatwood has racked up a 5.10 ERA this season.

Paul Goldschmidt ($3,700) is worth using, even against Madison Bumgarner. Goldie is 13-41(.317) with eight walks, four doubles, two home runs, and six RBI off of the Giants’ ace. I wouldn’t trust any other Arizona players, but you can roll the dice with Wellington Castillo ($2,900). Castillo is 5-19 with a walk, a double, two homers, and five RBI against MadBum.

Wil Myers ($5,300) is 2-6 with a triple and three RBI against Kenta Maeda so far in his career.

If Ryan Howard ($3,600) somehow gets the start today, he may be worth playing. Howard is only 2-8 against Chatwood, but both hits are doubles and he has driven in two runs.

Yasmani Grandal ($4,000) is 3-5 with a walk, a double, a homer, and two RBI against Padres lefty Christian Friedrich.
