Following the arrest of star forward Draymond Green, the Golden State Warriors have released a statement about Green’s situation.

After signing Kevin Durant to a two-year deal (including a player option for the second year), the Golden State Warriors thought the most dramatic moment of their offseason had passed. It seems not, as Draymond Green has been arrested for assault. The Warriors have released a statement about Green and his arrest.

It is worth noting that very few details have been released. Just because Green got arrested doesn’t mean that he did anything wrong, or that he will be charged with anything

The Warriors aren’t going to discipline Green until they get more information. At the very least, while Green has a history of aggressive on-court behavior, his off-court reputation is quite good. He had never been arrested before Sunday and he is a very active player in the community. The player’s union would be all over any form of punishment before more is known about his arrest and what precisely Green did. NBA commissioner Adam Silver has yet to release a statement but he will most likely play a role in determining if Green will be punished.

Green could be removed from Team USA if it is found that Green’s arrest is as bad as it sounds like it could be. However, the legal process tends to take a while to play out, so there likely won’t be anything solved until the Rio Olympics. It will be interesting to see if Green faces any discipline from Team USA.
