The Arizona Diamondbacks will be a team to watch at the MLB trade deadline. Here are five trades they should make to improve their team for next season.

Entering the 2016 MLB season, the Arizona Diamondbacks were projected by many to contend for a playoff spot after an impressive offseason. During the offseason, they added starting pitchers Zach Greinke and Shelby Miller. They also added Tyler Clippard to their bullpen. Their 2016 season has not gone as planned, however, and they are in last place in the National League West with a 38-52. They have added to the list of “offseason winners” that haven’t won in the regular season.

That said, they are still a very talented team so they shouldn’t completely blow up their core. It wouldn’t surprise many people if they made the playoffs in 2017. Making the playoffs in 2017 is a very realistic option if Arizona makes the right moves at the trade deadline. They should look to sell high on certain players and target younger players in any trade. Arizona should also explore shedding some payroll so that they can have some flexibility.
