MLB Trade Deadline: 5 best spots for Mike Trout
2. Boston Red Sox
If the Cubs are the first team that comes to mind when thinking about players who could entice the Angels in a trade for Trout, the Boston Red Sox are probably the second. Similar to Epstein’s mix of incredible talent in Chicago, the Red Sox have assembled an absolute force of their own.
Led by shortstop Xander Bogaerts and outfielder Mookie Betts, the Red Sox have an incredible collection of young position player talent at the major league level. I imagine that the Angels would probably insist on one of Bogaerts or Betts being involved in any trade for Trout.
Top prospect Yoan Moncada also immediately comes to mind as a probable target. Moncada is arguably the best prospect in all of baseball. He has an incredible offensive game that is going to make him a fantastic major league player, sooner rather than later.
Would the Angels be interested in a package of Betts, Moncada and some strong pitching prospects? Perhaps, but would the Red Sox want to do that? Trout is incredible, but they already have an elite mix of players on the field.
No matter how you look at it, Trout at Fenway Park would be incredible and the Red Sox are one of the few teams who could put together a legitimate package in exchange for Trout.
