Nick Faldo is one of the more decorated golfers in history, and he recently said that he believes Tiger Woods career may be over.

The biggest name in professional golf continues to be Tiger Woods, despite the fact that he has not played competitively in 11 months. Six-time Major winner Nick Faldo believes that he may never play competitively again, and he may be right.

“Physically, I don’t think he is in good shape unfortunately. If you watched that promotion he did for his tournament recently when he walked onto the tee you’d see that,” the Englishman told the Mirror and the Express.

Faldo is one of the legends of the game, so for him to see that Tiger may be done is very telling.

“His back is basically locked up,” Faldo said. “He said he has had three surgeries on it and he’s just not as flexible as you need to be for golf so I think unfortunately he’s not looking good to even make a comeback as a golfer. We shall see.”

Woods last played in August of 2015, when he finished tenth at the Windhym Open. Since then, he has undergone surgery again on his balky back, and his career has been put on hold. He will miss this week’s British Open at Royal Troon Golf Club after withdrawing from the field. It is the first time in his career that he has not played in three straight Major Tournaments.

He is still on the line-up to play in the US PGA Championship at the end of July, but he is likely to pull out of the year’s final Major as well.

For Woods, it is an incredible fall from grace, as the 40-year old was once considered the hands-down best player in the world. Luckily for the PGA Tour, there is a new crop of unbelievable superstars, who have taken the torch from the former world No.1.

Players like Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, and Rory McIlroy are the new faces of the Tour, but fans would still like to see Tiger in his blood-red shirt stalking fairways on Sunday.
