Kyle Busch won the “Best Driver” ESPY Award.

After he captured the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup title, Kyle Busch received another trophy to add to his case Wednesday, being named the 2016 recipient of the ESPY award for “Best Driver.”

The 31-year-old driver for Joe Gibbs racing showcased one of the greatest comeback stories in all of sports last year, capturing the championship after missing the first 11 points races of the season with a broken leg and foot, which he sustained during the season-opening race at Daytona.

He won five Sprint Cup races in 2015, including the season’s championship finale at Homestead.

Busch’s championship push was best displayed during the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, where he posted three top-five finishes in the Eliminator Round.

So far, 2016 has been just as friendly to Busch — he’s won three races this season at Martinsville, Texas and Kansas, and currently sits sixth in the championship standings. Additionally, he has more top-five finishes than any driver this season.

Busch received the most votes among the field of nominees, which included reigning Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton; IndyCar champion Scott Dixon; this year’s Indianapolis 500 champion, Alexander Rossi and defending NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Pro Stock champion Erica Enders.

His win adds Busch to a long line of NASCAR drivers to be honored with the award. Kevin Harvick won the award last year, and stock car drivers have been honored as “Best Driver” for nine of the last 11 years.
