7. Photo finishes

There is nothing like the end of a big sporting event. People are on the edge of their seats seeing who will win. In the Olympics, that feeling is magnified by a thousand, as the hopes of a country weighs on the outcome.

The Summer Games have the best-timed events in the world, and that creates the kind of drama that is must see TV. Whether it is on the track, or in the pool, these events bring the opportunity for a photo finish. These are the kind of finishes that go down in Olympic history.

The best part of a photo finish is that you do not really know who won until the picture is shown. Many times, multiple athletes think that they have won, raising their hands up in victory. However, when picture from the final lunge in shown, there is always only one clear winner.

Most of the athletes competing in the games are so close talent-wise. In many sprint and swimming individual events, the races come down to the final tenth of a second. A photo finish is one of the greatest things in sports, and the Summer Olympics are usually filled with them.

Medal count is so important in the Olympics, and a final lunge could be the difference between a gold or a silver, or if the race is really close, no medal at all.
