NFL news from around the globe.

After all the craziness of the franchise tag deadline on Friday, things were expected to slow down this week, but the National Football League would have none of it.

A pair of running backs were in the news on Monday, with former Houston Texans star Arian Foster finding a home with the Miami Dolphins. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that the contract is for one-year, not surprising for the 29-year-old Foster.

The former University of Tennessee standout only played in four games last year, sustaining a groin injury the first day of training camp before tearing his Achilles last fall. If Foster is back to his old form, Miami could have actually upgraded in the short team from Lamar Miller, who rushed for 1,000 yards last year before leaving for the Texans in free agency.

Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills are expressing interest in Reggie Bush after second-year back Karlos Williams got suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for violating the NFL’s Substance Abuse policy. Bush, 31, has always been an injury risk, playing 16 games just once since 2006. However, he is a dual threat out of the backfield and could give the Bills a nice option for the first quarter of the campaign.

Finally, the NFL is looking at putting a microchip in footballs this preseason. The idea is to monitor how close kicks are from hitting the uprights and seeing if a narrowing of the goalposts to challenge kicker further would be a good idea. The other notion is that a microchip could help officials to place the ball better after a ballcarrier is tackled.

On a serious note, Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib says he should be back for training camp after being shot in the leg this offseason. The details of the shooting remain murky at best, but Taliv is recovering and should be on the field when the defending champs begin practicing.

In other camp news, Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Kawaan Short will be at training camp after holding out from some OTA sessions due wanting a new deal. Short was great last season for the 15-1 Panthers, racking up a team-high 11 sacks. The 27-year-old could be looking at a long-term deal of more than $100 million with another season like 2015.
