Love him or hate him, John Cena has entertained fans from day one. And don’t expect that to change in the near future.

When you hear the name John Cena, you think of the guy that that has carried the WWE torch for the last 15 years. Arguably the most popular superstar since Steve Austin, or even Hulk Hogan, Cena has dominated the scene without any signs of slowing down. But could that all be about to change for the former champion?

You’d be hard pressed to find anyone in the entertainment industry who carries the same workload as Cena. But in this business, you only have so much time at the top. And for Cena, the clock may be winding down. He’s had couple of major surgeries in recent years, has had some work done on his neck and needed to have a muscle repaired that was torn completely off the bone. Those injuries sidelined him for over a year combined.

Plus, injuries aside, WWE is heading in a different direction. With this week’s Brand Extension Draft now in the books, a whole new atmosphere has been created in the company. Their developmental breeding ground known as NXT has already provided THREE heavyweight champions. Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and currently Dean Ambrose have all won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. In fact, at the recent “Money In The Bank” pay per view, all three men wore the gold before the night was over.

A younger and newer generation has arrived. Finn Balor, who has been the most popular entity at NXT over the last year, is set to make his main roster debut soon, as is Nia Jax. She’s about to deliver a wakeup call to the Women’s division that could put Charlotte’s reign as champion in jeopardy. As noted, Cena isn’t the same kid who debuted against Kurt Angle back in 2002. He’s been the most successful superstar over the last 15 years. He’s made a lion’s share doing what he does.

If you ask Cena, he’ll probably tell you that he’s got another solid 15 years left in him. In a recent interview with ESPN, he admitted as much. He plans on wearing the jean shorts and sneakers in the ring as long as his body will let him.

"I’m going to be wrestling for as long as I can. It’s something I’m very passionate about and something that I love."

He could walk away at ANY given point, but his dedication to the fans and the ability to entertain from the second he walks through the curtain is as alive now as it was 15 years ago. While he may not be Superman, he is the best thing that’s happened to sports entertainment since the Attitude Era.
