When will the Paralympics be held?

The Paralympics are a multi-sport, international event set up specifically for athletes with disabilities. The Paralympics will be held from September 7, 2016 through September 18, 2016. This runs about two weeks after the Olympics.

The Paralympics are held in the same city as the Summer Olympics, which this year is in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

This year, the games are expected to have 526 events. New events to the games this year include canoeing, and the paratriathlon.

The first Paralympic games were held in in 1960 in Rome, Italy. It featured featured 400 athletes from 23 different countries. This year they are expected to bring in athletes from over 173 different nations and over 4,000 athletes are expected to participate.

The first Paralympics to be held right after the Olympics and hosted in the same city as the Olympics was in 1988. They were in Seoul, South Korea and were followed by the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France. That marked the first Winter Olympics to host the Paralympics games in the same city, and directly after the Olympics. These games have created a tradition that is now followed in every Olympic city.
