Looking at who will be performing at the Opening Ceremony for the 2016 Olympics in Rio

There is a great deal of excitement for the 2016 Olympics that are just around the corner in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Summer Olympics are always a treat with the best athletes in the world at their respective sports squaring off to prove that they’re the best in the world. Just as great as the competition, though, is the spectacle of it all and that obviously starts with the Opening Ceremony.

While the Opening Ceremony is always a big production, the Opening Ceremony for the 2016 Olympics promises to be absolutely massive and incredible given that it’s under the direction of Fernando Meirelles, a filmmaker known for such movies such as City of God. Subsequently, the big question now for the Opening Ceremony in Rio is who exactly will be performing.

For the most part, the performers for the 2016 Olympics Opening Ceremony (and most others for that matter) are largely kept under wraps. However, we have been lucky enough to have at least a few names announced before the start of the games and ceremony in Rio.

Model Gisele Bündchen is scheduled to be a part of the Opening Ceremony, though that only half counts as she’s not technically performing. However, the likes of Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Paulinho da Viola, and Brazilian music legend Elza Soares certainly do qualify as they will put their talents on display.

That’s what we know now, but there are sure to be more surprises to come so keep your eyes peeled for any big names heading down to Rio for the 2016 Olympics.
