Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham was a part of a group that beat up a Miami Beach hotel employee after an argument over an umbrella.

Sometimes here at FanSided, we do stories about stupid things that athletes do that make us laugh, cry or scratch our heads. The following story may actually give you the chance to do all three things at the same time.

Nigel Bradham, who signed with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason after four years with the Buffalo Bills, turned himself into Miami Beach Police on Monday after an incident last week involving him and some friends.

For the rest of the story, we’re going to turn it over to NBCMiami.com, who got the exclusive story:

"According to police, a group of six people started arguing with the employee over the length of time it took to bring them an umbrella they had paid for. The verbal argument became physical, with the victim sustaining cuts and lacerations, including one to the back of his head when a glass bottle was allegedly smashed over it.The six people then fled the scene, running toward Ocean Drive and entering a vehicle before speeding away. A phone was discovered at the scene, which was turned over to police as evidence along with a receipt showing Bradham paid for the umbrella with his credit card."

So, just as a quick lesson for all of those readers out there: if you are going to commit a crime and run away, make sure you haven’t already paid for something using a credit card so that you can be easily tracked.

Bradham, a former All-ACC honorable mention player at Florida State, lives in nearby Miramar and later posted bond and was released Tuesday morning. No word on if he got his money back for the umbrella since they didn’t get a chance to use it – we’ll keep you updated.
