DeMar DeRozan just missed a 360 poster over defender (Video)

DeMar DeRozan was a few inches short of pulling off the greatest poster dunk of all-time.
In preparation for the Rio Olympics, Team USA hosted two exhibition games against China which they won by a combined total of 109 points. While the squad that they’re sending out this year is their B-team, the biggest name is Kevin Durant, and all the focus heading into this second match was that it was his first game at Oracle Arena since signing with the Golden State Warriors.
But it was Toronto Raptors’ DeMar DeRozan who stole the headlines from Durant. Fresh off of signing a max deal, and one of the most expensive contracts in this year’s free agency, he’s on a mission to prove that he was worth the money.
DeRozan may be an LA native, but he saved his theatrics for the Oakland crowd when, with just two minutes left in Team USA’s friendly, he missed a 360 poster dunk over a Chinese defender:
DeRozan has had his fair share of poster dunks in his career, with his most famous being the one over Rudy Gobert, but this would’ve topped them all. Given that it was on the international stage, this attempt recalled memories of Vince Carter’s poster over Frederic Weis – coincidentally, also by a Raptor. If the ball had gone in, though, DeRozan could’ve potentially surpassed Carter.
And while LeBron James was one of the biggest names that withdrew from the Olympics, he decided to weigh in on the dunk attempt:
LeBron only calls it top five since he’s had some highlight-reel dunks of his own. Plus, he knows what it’s like to have a dunk that would’ve broken the Internet miss, as his missed poster over Draymond Green in Game 7 would’ve been perhaps the greatest highlight in NBA history.
At the very least, fans can rest easy knowing that, even with a shorthanded roster, Team USA looks like they’ll still be very entertaining to watch on the big stage.
