When does College Football 2016 start?

With the weeks winding down, here is a look at when the 2016 College Football season will begin.

With the summer around its halfway point, it means the 2016 College Football season will be arriving shortly. This is the real beginning of the football year, as the NFL regular season begins a short time later.

This should be yet another exciting year, which will follow up a National Championship game that saw Alabama defeat Clemson, 45-40. The Crimson Tide, led by head coach Nick Saban, always enter the College Football season as a favorite, so they’ll likely be talked about throughout the upcoming season. Could they win the SEC again?

As for Clemson, they’ll have Heisman Trophy favorite Deshaun Watson back for his junior season. He is coming off a season of accumulating over 5,000 total yards and will look to do the same in 2016. If he can replicate this, the Tigers will be favorites to make it to the College Football Playoff and win it all. The Heisman Trophy may be handed to him in December as well.

Stanford standout Christian McCaffrey will also be back at running back in Palo Alto. He’ll be another favorite for the Heisman Trophy. The junior running back finished behind 2015 winner Derrick Henry in the voting for the prestigious award.

The potentially thrilling College Football 2016 season will kick off on Friday, August 26 with the Cal Golden Bears vs. the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. A full slate of games will then begin on Thursday, September 1.
