In the short five-year history of the Pac-12 Championship Game in college football, either Oregon (twice) or Stanford (three times) have won the title. When is the “Conference of Champions” featured game this season?

Since 2011, the Pac-12 Conference has featured two divisions — the North and South — and had those winners meet in the Pac-12 Conference Championship Game in early December.

Some of college football’s best teams have been featured in the game in the last five years, including Marcus Mariota and the 2014 Oregon Ducks. The 51-13 pounding of No. 7 Arizona in Santa Clara by the Ducks all but sealed the Heisman Trophy for Mariota and a berth in first College Football Playoff for Oregon.

With that being said, when is the 2016 Pac-12 Championship Game this season?

The game will once again be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA; home of the San Francisco 49ers and the host of Super Bowl 50. It’ll be the third consecutive season that Levi’s Stadium will host the premier football game of the Pac-12 Conference after the team with the better record hosted the first three title games.

Fox Sports and ESPN are on a rotating cycle of who televises the game each season as part of a 12-year deal since Fox televised the inaugural game in 2011.

So far in the game’s history, nobody has been able to keep Oregon or Stanford from clinching at least a berth in the Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, CA. Oregon won the first game in 2011, Stanford won the next two, Oregon got back on top with Mariota in 2014 and Stanford mauled USC in the title game last season.

Another common trend in the game: No player that wasn’t a quarterback or a running back has won the MVP award. LaMichael James (Oregon), Kevin Hogan (Stanford), Tyler Gaffney (Stanford), Marcus Mariota (Oregon) and Christian McCaffrey (Stanford) are the five MVP winners in the game.
