DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy baseball shortstops-July 29
Identifying the top high salary and value shortstop plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 29 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Corey Seager, Dodgers (5,200): Seager’s nine-game hitting streak came to an end on Wednesday, but he’s in a prime spot to start a new one on Friday against Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zack Godley (3-1, 5.88 ERA). The 22-year-old Seager is hitting .329 against righties this season, and the Dodgers’ expected run total (4.7) is one of the highest on the board Friday. Start him with confidence.
Jonathan Villar, Brewers (4,900): The Brewers’ switch-hitting leadoff batter has hit safely in four straight games, a nice little stretch that features a pair of 20-plus DK-point performances. Villar is hitting .327 against left-handers this season, so he stands out as a solid play Friday against Pittsburgh Pirates rookie Steven Brault (0-0, 2.25 ERA), who will be making just his second career start.
High Value
Troy Tulowitzki, Blue Jays (3,700): “Tulo” has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games, and his presence in Toronto’s potent offense boosts his fantasy value on its own. Tulowitzki’s power has been remarkably consistent this season, as he’s homered four times in each month so far. He’s a solid value play Friday against hittable Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman (2-7, 3.77 ERA).
Brandon Crawford, Giants (2,700): This is nothing more than a GPP play, but there’s upside here for Crawford in a tough matchup with Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer (10-6, 2.92 ERA). First, Crawford won’t cost much to roster, but more importantly, he’s had success against Scherzer, going 2-for-3 with a double and home run against him in his career. You could do worse for a GPP punt play.
