2. Ryan Anderson — Houston Rockets

Remember when we talked about the Houston Rockets in regards to Eric Gordon and spoke on the idea of their biggest need this offseason being help on the defensive end of the floor, especially with the departure of Dwight Howard in the frontcourt. Well that’s where the signing of Ryan Anderson also comes into play as he’s another player that’s going to give the Rockets another great offensive addition but no real help in regards to addressing their biggest weakness.

When healthy, Anderson is one of the best stretch fours in the game because of his ability to not only stretch the floor on offense and knock down shots from the perimeter at power forward, but that he is also a solid rebounder for a stretch four. That being said, Anderson’s defensive abilities leave more than a little bit to be desired. Even if he’s going to make the Rockets offense exceptionally high-powered, he’s definitely not going to aid them in any meaningful way in stopping anyone.

If you’re Anderson, perhaps the most questionable part of his decision to sign with the Rockets is why he would subject himself to the firestorm that’s always surrounding Harden and the Houston defense when he should know by now that he’s going to exacerbate the defensive issues. It just seems as if he’s setting himself up to be skewered by the media and ultimately setting himself up to fail.
