MLB Power Rankings: Post Trade Deadline edition
By John Buhler
With the August 1st MLB trade deadline coming to a close at 4 PM Eastern Time on Monday, here are the MLB power rankings at the start of August.
The MLB trade deadline came and went on Monday, August 1st with teams either identifying as buyers or sellers. With roughly half of the league in contention for a potential postseason berth, many clubs decided it was in their best interest to upgrade their rosters for the their postseason push. Sometimes that one key trade deadline acquisition can put a team over the top and into a serious World Series contender
Other clubs have come to terms, some sooner than later, that this will not be their year to contend for the pennant in their respective leagues. These teams have honestly assessed their situation and are looking for pieces and future prospects that could help build their club for hopefully a better tomorrow.
Though time will inevitably tell which deals were wise for either the buyers or sellers, the MLB trade deadline has essentially determined what each of the 30 MLB rosters will look like in the final two months of the 2016 season.
Sure, teams can still make minor moves either through the waiver wire or the September 1st call-ups due to the 40-man roster expansion, but we now know what the corps of each team’s roster will look like down the stretch. At the August 1st MLB trade deadline, here are the 30 big league clubs power ranked from No. 30 to No. 1.
Next: No. 30 through No. 16.
