Philadelphia sports fans can be some of the toughest around. They’ll hit you with batteries, light your car on fire and even beat the living hell out of Santa Clause. Simply put, if you anger them, you’re likely catching some form of harassment or a beat down of the most epic proportions.
With the Philadelphia Phillies taking on the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night, there was a buzz surrounding the game with the young Phillies taking on a championship caliber team. The game was a close one, but one Phillies fan didn’t like the way the umpire was calling the game and started to heckle the umpire, Bob Davidson.
Well, Davidson had enough of the fan that spent good money to heckle his hardest and walked over and ejected the fan from the game.
That has to be a rare occurrence in baseball. Fans heckle the umpire all the time, but this tough old guy in Philadelphia was laying down the law from the third-base line.
It’s not clear what he was saying and usually heckling is a thing allowed, so it had to have been over the line.
Either that or Davidson’s ear had enough.
